NIA Arrests Seventh Suspect in Red Fort VBIED, Says Faridabad Aide Sheltered Bomber

The detention is intended to help investigators trace the wider support network behind the VBIED plot.

Overview

  • NIA said Faridabad resident Soyab harboured Umar Un Nabi immediately before the November 10 car blast and provided logistical support.
  • A Delhi court sent Soyab to 10 days of NIA custody, while co-accused Amir Rashid Ali received a further seven days of remand.
  • The arrest brings the total held to seven from a white‑collar module spanning Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, including doctors, a cleric, a technical aide and the car’s registered owner.
  • Investigators conducted reconstruction visits in Faridabad, where they traced bomb‑making tools such as a grinder and a portable furnace, and continue multi‑state searches and financial probes.
  • NIA has forensically identified Nabi as the bomber who detonated a VBIED near the Red Fort, an attack that killed at least 13 people and injured dozens.
