NHS Teams With Morrisons to Put Cancer Alerts on Bath and Shower Products

Turning daily showers into prompts for body checks could help people seek help sooner.

Overview

  • Morrisons is rolling out nine own-brand bath and shower items with NHS cancer-awareness labels in about 450 stores and online throughout May.
  • The bottles feature plain prompts such as "Be body aware" and "Know the signs of cancer" to encourage checks during washing and a GP visit if something feels wrong.
  • Guidance points to signs people may notice like lumps, swelling, skin changes, or unexplained pain or bruising, as well as persistent heartburn, bowel or bladder changes, unusual bleeding, night sweats, fatigue, hoarseness, or a lasting cough.
  • NHS cancer lead Professor Peter Johnson, Public Health Minister Sharon Hodgson, and Morrisons executive David Scott endorsed the move as a simple way to spot cancer earlier.
  • The campaign builds on a 2023 underwear-label pilot, with the NHS open to similar work with other supermarkets and survivors Ed Baldwin and Stacey Gordon explaining how early checks sped diagnosis and treatment.
