Overview
- The spring booster programme, which began appointments Monday after the National Booking Service opened April 7, runs until June 30 with the final day to book on June 29.
- Adults aged 75 and over, residents in older adult care homes, and people aged six months and over with weakened immune systems are eligible across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- UKHSA says protection from earlier doses is fading and reports that last spring’s recipients were about 55% less likely to be admitted to hospital in the five to nine weeks after vaccination.
- People can book through the NHS app or website or by calling 119, and doses are being given at GP practices, community pharmacies and designated vaccination sites.
- Eligible people can receive this dose from three months after their last Covid vaccine, and the NHS Green Book defines immunosuppressed groups such as transplant patients, those on chemotherapy or long-term steroids, and people living with HIV.
