NHRA Picks U.S. 131 Motorsports Park to Open 2026 Countdown With Great Lakes Nationals

The Michigan stop returns NHRA national racing to the state for the first time since 1960.

  • The inaugural Great Lakes Nationals is scheduled for Sept. 18–20, 2026 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.
  • The race will be the 15th of 20 events in NHRA’s 75th anniversary season and the first of six Countdown to the Championship rounds.
  • Tickets for the new national event go on sale on Feb. 1, 2026.
  • U.S. 131 recently joined the NHRA Member Track Network and will stage a National Open on July 8–9 followed by a Lucas Oil divisional on July 10–12.
  • NHRA’s 2026 expansion features four new national-event facilities, including first-time stops at South Georgia Motorsports Park and Maryland International Raceway, with Rockingham Dragway joining the postseason rotation.
