Overview
- The one-year moratorium was announced Wednesday and bars student-facing generative AI for roughly 600,000 students in 2‑K through eighth grade, with companion chatbots banned across all grades.
- The policy restricts one-to-one devices through second grade and recommends daily screen-time caps of 30 minutes for grades 3–5 and 45 minutes for grades 6–8.
