New Survey Finds iPhone Loyalty at 96.4% as Android Users Switch More Often

A U.S. survey links iPhone stickiness to iOS preference plus ecosystem lock‑in.

Overview

  • SellCell’s U.S. survey, published Thursday, polled more than 5,000 smartphone owners with a roughly even split between iPhone and Android users.
  • iPhone loyalty reached 96.4% versus Android at 86.4%, and Android users were about four times more likely to plan a platform switch than iPhone owners.
  • Among iPhone users, 60.8% cited a preference for iOS and 17.4% cited investment in Apple’s ecosystem, while price, value, and perceived technology led reasons to switch brands.
  • Brand results showed broad gains since 2021, with Samsung loyalty up to 90.1% and Google’s Pixel up to 86.8%, narrowing but not closing Apple’s lead.
  • Long-term use also diverged, with 83.8% of iPhone owners reporting more than five years on the brand versus 33.8% for Android users, a gap that makes moving platforms harder in real life.
