Overview
- Walt Disney Imagineering filed three permits for the former Animation Courtyard: mechanical upgrades at the Feature Animation building with Ferran Services and two electrical/AV permits with Pro Audio Video for The Magic of Disney Animation and the new entry sign site.
- On‑site changes include removal of the Star Wars Launch Bay marquee, a crane staged for installing a Sorcerer’s Hat icon, fresh paint on the Little Mermaid and Disney Jr. soundstages, and audible construction activity during park hours.
- The area is being rebranded to resemble the Burbank lot with a new “The Walt Disney Studios” sign, expanded green space, and a refreshed entry sequence anchored by the Sorcerer’s Hat.
- The Magic of Disney Animation returns in a reimagined format later this summer with an Olaf‑hosted Animation Academy, a Mary Blair‑inspired indoor playground, a theater presentation, and six new character meet‑and‑greet locations.
- A separate permit notes electrical work in Toy Story Land, and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has closed to install its Muppets retheme, which Disney is targeting to reopen this summer.
