New Midsize and 7-Seat SUVs Target India in 2026-27 as EVs Join the Lineup

Automakers are pairing near-term facelifts with battery-powered three-row models to chase growing family-SUV demand.

Overview

  • Tata’s Sierra EV is reported to be due within months with two battery options and a claimed range of more than 500 km, while Nissan’s Tekton is tracked for a second-half-2026 debut based on repeated test-mule sightings.
  • Toyota’s Ebella electric midsize SUV is expected to launch with two battery choices, with the larger pack claimed to deliver about 543 km on a charge.
  • Mahindra’s Scorpio-N facelift is expected this year with a new grille, revised lighting and larger screens, and reports say the existing petrol and diesel engines will carry over.
  • Tata’s three-row Safari.ev is tipped for an October window with single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive, 65 kWh or 75 kWh LFP batteries, and a reported range near 600 km.
  • Mahindra is also lining up production versions of the Vision.S, BE.07 and Vision.T concepts across 2026-27, fitting into its published goal of 16 new SUVs by March 2031.
