New Jersey Woman Arrested on Child Sexual Assault and CSAM Charges

Search warrants on a gifted cellphone yielded Snapchat Memories and other videos that investigators say helped identify and charge her.

Overview

  • Prosecutors say Victoria Anne Cranmer, 25, is charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree manufacturing of child sexual abuse material after investigators recovered video evidence.
  • Investigators say a 14-second recording of the alleged assault was made May 6 in the bathroom of a Little Egg Harbor home while the child was in Cranmer’s care.
  • The inquiry began after the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency referred allegations May 20 and a former roommate who had given Cranmer a cellphone found the recording and handed the device to police.
  • Detectives obtained search warrants for the phone and Cranmer’s Snapchat account, recovered additional videos saved in Snapchat Memories, and say they identified her in footage by distinctive tattoos.
  • Cranmer was arrested in early July, booked into Ocean County Jail and is being held without bail while the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit continues its investigation and prosecution.
