New Jersey Launches $5 Million World Cup Grants for Local Fan Events

The state is steering funds from a canceled Liberty State Park fan fest to local events statewide.

Overview

  • Gov. Mikie Sherrill, speaking in Camden County on Wednesday, announced a statewide program directing $5 million to 34 fan zones, festivals and watch parties tied to the 2026 World Cup.
  • Camden will serve as an early hub with SoccerFest26 set for June 25–27 at Wiggins Waterfront Park, plus a finals watch event on July 19 at Cooper River Park.
  • Visit South Jersey received $788,000 to stage Camden waterfront events and support smaller gatherings in nearby Burlington and Gloucester counties, according to a county spokesperson.
  • New Jersey confirmed multiple team base camps around the state, including Haiti at Stockton University, Morocco at The Pingry School, Senegal at Rutgers and Brazil in Morris Township.
  • NJ Transit will charge $150 for round-trip match-day tickets to MetLife Stadium, a higher-cost approach than some neighboring hosts, as the venue prepares to stage eight games including the July final.
