- Sheriff's investigators released Oct. 7 surveillance from a Santa Barbara–area rental car business showing Melodee in a hooded sweatshirt and what they believe was a darker, straighter wig.
- Authorities say the mother rented a white Chevrolet Malibu for a road trip to the Nebraska area with a return route that included Kansas, and the car was back at the Lompoc home on Oct. 10 without Melodee.
- The disappearance window is now narrowed to Oct. 7–10, and detectives are working to determine where Melodee was during those three days.
