New Hampton Woman Arrested After Alleged Threats and Gunfire

Alleged threats followed by rounds fired into the air prompted a multi-agency response resulting in the suspect being held pending court.

  • The incident began Saturday when New Hampshire State Police troopers responded to a report of a suspicious person on Waukewan Road and served 50-year-old Vanessa Cooke-Case a no-trespass order.
  • Police say Cooke-Case returned hours later and verbally threatened neighbors before officers took her into custody after reports she fired multiple rounds into the air on Winona Road.
  • Court documents and investigators allege roughly 20 rounds were fired, that the defendant made threats to use a firearm, and that she claimed there were bombs in her home, according to police.
  • Cooke-Case faces multiple charges reported by media outlets, including reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and simple assault, and she is being held on preventative detention at the Belknap County Jail.
  • No injuries were reported, state police said their investigation is ongoing, agencies from Meredith, Center Harbor and the Belknap County Sheriff’s Office assisted, and anyone with information is asked to email Trooper Thomas Seager.
