New Hampshire Man Charged With Attempted Murder in Shooting at U.S.–Canada Border

The FBI is leading the use-of-force inquiry following the exchange of gunfire at the closed Pittsburg port of entry.

Overview

  • Blu Zeke Daly, 26, of Manchester, was charged by criminal complaint with attempted murder of a federal officer and assault on a federal officer with a deadly weapon.
  • Federal accounts say a Border Patrol agent encountered Daly in Stewartstown on Saturday night, asked about other names, and then followed at a distance after Daly drove off.
  • Shortly after midnight Sunday at the closed Pittsburg Port of Entry, investigators say Daly fired a handgun at the agent, who returned fire and struck Daly; the agent was not injured.
  • Daly was taken to a New Hampshire hospital and remains under guard, while agents executing warrants recovered a Smith & Wesson handgun and ammunition from his vehicle after a crash into a snowbank.
  • The investigation is ongoing under FBI lead, and prosecutors say the charges carry combined maximum penalties of up to 40 years in prison and $500,000 in fines if convicted.
