The teen driver is on interim bail for board exams.

Overview

  • Police say newly obtained CCTV and an in-car clip show the SUV speeding, swerving past a bus and then colliding head-on with 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra’s motorcycle.
  • Investigators have registered a case under BNS sections 281, 106(1) and 125(a), seized and mechanically inspected all vehicles, and are examining the videos as key evidence.
  • The driver was identified as 17-year-old Akshatra Singh, who had no licence, was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and received interim bail on February 10 to sit Class 10 exams.
  • The accused’s father, who runs a transport business, has been booked under Motor Vehicles Act Section 199A for guardian/owner liability, questioned by police and has publicly apologized.
  • The autopsy states Sahil died of haemorrhagic shock from severe head and chest injuries; taxi driver Ajit Singh was injured and treated as the probe continues.
