Overview
- Police said the victim called 911 shortly after 6:30 a.m. reporting he had fallen between two fishing vessels at Fish Island in New Bedford harbor.
- Officer Kenneth Almeida arrived about 10 minutes later, found the man gripping dock lines, and kept hold of his hands while organizing the extraction.
- Officers Mackenzie Sylvester, Abraham Nazario, Andy Soares and Jesse Branagan assisted Almeida, and together they lifted the fisherman from the freezing water.
- The man was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for hypothermia treatment and was reported to be doing well and expected to be OK.
