Neuss Unveils City Park on Former Racetrack Ahead of April 16 State Garden Show

City leaders cast the €60 million transformation as a long-term green investment with 95% of features to remain.

Overview

  • Final works are underway one month before opening as the 38-hectare site is readied to host more than 1,000 events, gardens and three large adventure playgrounds.
  • More than 2,200 new trees have been planted as the former racecourse is recast as a “city park in the heart of the city.”
  • Historic elements are being retained, including the grandstand for events and dining, the sand track preserved as a dry biotope and upgraded floodlighting converted to LED and effect lighting.
  • Organizers project at least 650,000 visitors, with access by nearby tram stop, 850 parking spaces and a cycle expressway connection.
  • Published ticket prices are €20 for adults, €10 reduced and €5 for under-18s, with adult season passes at €150, as the project proceeds alongside wider German racetrack conversions such as in Mönchengladbach.
