Netflix’s Rousey–Carano Card Averages 12.4 Million Viewers, Sets U.S. MMA Record

The turnout gives Jake Paul’s MVP leverage to pursue more Netflix MMA cards.

Overview

  • Netflix and MVP, which released figures Tuesday, said the triple main card averaged 12.4 million global Live+1 viewers and neared 17 million at the Rousey–Carano peak.
  • Rousey ended Saturday’s headliner in 17 seconds by armbar at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome, with Francis Ngannou scoring a first-round KO and Mike Perry winning by doctor’s TKO over Nate Diaz.
  • In the U.S., the main card averaged 9.3 million and peaked at 11.6 million, a mark MVP calls the most-watched MMA event ever in the country based on VideoAmp and internal Netflix data.
  • MVP reported a live gate above $2.2 million and heavy social reach and said investor and partner interest has surged as it reviews options for more shows with Netflix.
  • Rousey said she is retiring again and may help MVP off camera, while coverage noted both the strong business result and concerns about matchmaking and that Netflix’s metrics do not match Nielsen TV ratings.
