Netflix to Add Publisher Short and Mid‑Form Videos in App on August 3

The company says the licensed 3–20+ minute clips are designed to boost daily viewing by keeping subscribers engaged between seasons.

Overview

  • Netflix confirmed it will begin streaming curated short- and mid-form videos from major digital publishers inside its app on August 3, 2026, in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Launch partners include BuzzFeed, Condé Nast (Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest), Hearst, Penske Media’s PMX, People Inc. and Tastemade, offering formats such as Vogue interviews, Bon Appétit and Tasty cooking pieces, and Rolling Stone music segments.
  • Netflix executive John Derderian said the clips are intended to give viewers reasons to open the app between series and to deepen engagement with characters and stories that viewers already follow.
  • The company has not disclosed financial terms for the licensing deals and said it will expand to more partners and regions only if the concept performs well.
  • The move follows recent product experiments — vertical Clips, interactive games and live events — and gives publishers a new distribution channel while positioning Netflix to compete more directly with YouTube and TikTok for daily screen time.
