Netflix Sets Dec. 18 Global Premiere for Más Allá de la Sociedad Documentary

The three-episode film follows survivors back to the Andes and records, for the first time on camera, reunions with families of those who died to explore life after the 1972 crash.

  • Netflix has released a first preview and confirmed the series will stream worldwide on December 18, 2026.
  • The three-episode documentary was created by J. A. Bayona and Carlos Torres, directed by Carlos Torres, and produced by Bayona, Sandra Hermida and Belén Atienza.
  • Producers say the series brings together, for the first time on camera, testimony from survivors of Flight 571 and relatives of those who did not return.
  • Filming returns to the crash site in the Andes and moves much of the cast there to stage encounters between the survivors’ real experiences and the earlier 2024 film adaptation; writers Piers Paul Read and Pablo Vierci and filmmakers including Frank Marshall also appear.
  • The project will debut in the official selection at the San Sebastián Film Festival before its Netflix release and revisits a 1972 Andes disaster in which 16 of 40 people survived after 72 days in the snow.
