Netflix, Mexico City to Screen Juan Gabriel’s 1990 Bellas Artes Concert Free in the Zócalo on Nov. 8

The city-backed event will showcase restored, never-before-seen footage tied to a new Netflix docuseries to bring the tribute to a broad public.

Overview

  • Organizers set the projection for Nov. 8 at 8:00 p.m. in the Zócalo with free entry, no tickets required, and advise attendees to arrive early.
  • The screening features restored, previously unreleased material from Juan Gabriel’s personal archive connected to Netflix’s four-part series Juan Gabriel: Debo, Puedo y Quiero, directed by María José Cuevas and premiering Oct. 30.
  • The Secretaría de Cultura will equip the square with giant screens and surround sound, and public safety will be coordinated by the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana.
  • Public photo exhibitions of rare images open Oct. 27 in the Metro Bellas Artes station and expand Oct. 30 to the Ángel de la Independencia and the Diana Cazadora roundabout.
  • The film revisits the singer’s landmark 1990 Palacio de Bellas Artes performance with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional, following a 2024 public screening that drew large crowds and points to strong expected turnout.
