Netflix Licenses Multiple Power Series From Lionsgate

The arrangement expands global access to established Power titles and shifts where audiences will find the franchise on streaming services.

Overview

  • Netflix has struck a licensing deal with Lionsgate Television to carry four Power-branded series internationally and to hold U.S. rights to the original Power, with Canada explicitly excluded.
  • The international rights are non-exclusive, meaning the same seasons will continue to be available on Starz’s app and its streaming platforms in markets covered by Starz agreements.
  • The pact covers defined season packages for each show and will be rolled out by market according to Lionsgate’s existing local deals.
  • Upcoming offshoots Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are not part of the Netflix agreement and will remain with Starz, and the fifth season of Raising Kanan is currently airing on Starz and due to conclude soon.
  • The licensing reflects Lionsgate’s longstanding production role after its 2016 acquisition of Starz and the companies’ May 2025 separation, and it follows strong streamer demand for related talent and shows such as Courtney Kemp’s Nemesis.
