- Netflix will end support globally for many legacy phones and several smart TVs starting in April 2026, removing access on devices that no longer meet its software rules.
- The app now lists Android 7.0 and iOS 17 as the minimums to run, with some reports noting Android 9.0 may be needed for the updated app to work well.
- Models flagged to lose access include iPhone X and earlier, Samsung’s Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Grand Prime, LG’s Optimus L5, L7 and G2, and Sony’s Xperia Z, Z1 and E3.
- Older TVs are also affected, including Samsung sets from roughly 2012–2015 EOS series, Sony Bravia lines labeled KDL, XBR, W95 and X95, many LG and Panasonic models made before 2015, and Apple TV 1st through 3rd generation, which may show a “This app is not compatible with your device” notice.
- Users can check their software version in settings and keep watching by adding a low-cost streaming stick such as Roku, Fire TV or Chromecast, and should expect more apps to drop support on aging hardware over time as updates end.
