Netanyahu Says Strikes Wiped Out 70% of Iran’s Steel Capacity

Iran’s two biggest steelmakers report months-long repairs, pointing to a sustained hit to output.

Overview

  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement that Israeli strikes destroyed about 70% of Iran’s steel production capacity and he described full coordination with the U.S. military.
  • Khuzestan Steel Company and Mobarakeh Steel Company, Iran’s largest producers, said their plants are offline and will take months to rebuild.
  • Netanyahu argued the damage strips Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps of funding and cuts materials needed for missiles, drones, and naval craft.
  • Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched missile and drone attacks on industrial areas across the region and inside Israel in response and threatened more strikes.
  • The Israel Defense Forces also highlighted ongoing operations in Lebanon, saying a special unit hit more than 75 Hezbollah targets and killed over 40 fighters.
