Overview
- The regulator approved a negative quarterly tariff adjustment of Rs1.9857 per unit and issued an official notification that takes effect for the June, July and August billing cycles.
- NEPRA separately allowed an April fuel cost adjustment of Rs1.19 per unit, which offsets most of the cut and leaves consumers a net saving of roughly Re0.80 per unit on June bills.
- The decision was announced in an official notice released on Thursday and applies nationwide to all DISCO customers and K-Electric users while excluding lifeline consumers and certain prepaid and EV charging tariffs.
- NEPRA said the April fuel charge reflects a national average fuel cost component of Rs9.4405 per kWh versus a reference of Rs8.2498 per kWh and that the CPPA had originally sought a larger FCA of Rs1.73 per unit.
- Regulators estimate the three-month tariff adjustment will provide over Rs67 billion in consumer relief and may ease household energy costs during the peak summer demand period.
