NEPRA Clears Rs1.6274 FCA for March Bills, Adds Re0.3504/kWh Quarterly Surcharge Through May

The regulator cited reduced hydropower, high demand and forced plant outages that raised generation costs.

Overview

  • Fuel Cost Adjustment of Rs1.6274 per kWh for January will be charged in March bills for Discos and K-Electric customers, excluding lifeline, protected, EV charging stations and prepaid users.
  • NEPRA also approved a uniform quarterly adjustment of Re0.3504 per kWh for October–December FY2025-26 to be recovered from March to May, with the same exemptions and coverage of KE consumers.
  • Ex-Wapda Discos sought Rs10.832 billion for the quarter, but NEPRA allowed Rs8.674 billion after netting negative adjustments including variable O&M, system charges, market operator fees, T&D loss impacts and the incremental consumption package.
  • CPPA-G initially proposed a higher FCA of Rs1.7814 per kWh for January before NEPRA set the final increase at Rs1.6274 per kWh.
  • NEPRA directed the Power Division to submit detailed data on the incremental consumption package for further review, signaling potential reconciliations in future determinations.
