NEPRA Approves Rs1.99 Per Unit Cut for June–August Electricity Bills

The decision delivers about Rs67.17 billion in short-term relief to customers as NEPRA places responsibility for any data errors on the central buyer.

NEPRA approved the negative Quarterly Tariff Adjustment on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, setting a uniform reduction of Rs1.9857 per kilowatt-hour to be passed to consumers in June, July and August bills.
The cut represents cumulative relief of approximately Rs67.173 billion for the January–March 2026 adjustment period and will be applied evenly across distribution companies including K-Electric.
The reduction excludes lifeline customers, units billed under incremental consumption packages, and prepaid consumers, so not all households will see the cut in their bills.
NEPRA based the decision on CPPA‑G‑certified data, directed CPPA‑G to provide plant‑wise monthly capacity‑charge figures going forward, and warned CPPA‑G it will be held accountable for any future errors or omissions.
The adjustment reflects formulaic shifts in capacity charges, fuel and O&M costs, market and use‑of‑system fees, and transmission and distribution loss impacts and is temporary and subject to court orders and future fuel‑charge changes.
