- The dog, named Chong, escaped from a Lincoln, Nebraska home in 2021 and the family continued searching for years.
- In late July the Hendricks County Animal Shelter posted that a dog matching Chong had been found outside the Love's truck stop in Pittsboro, Indiana, about 642 miles from Lincoln.
- Shelter staff discovered the dog’s microchip was registered to another person and followed protocol by contacting that listed owner and waiting the required three-day response period.
- When the registered contact did not respond within the grace period, owner Inmaculada Jackman traveled to Indiana, re-adopted Chong, and the dog recognized his owner and the family’s other dog.
