Overview
- Nebius said Tuesday it will build a 310 MW AI data center in Lappeenranta, Finland, with an estimated cost of more than $10 billion.
- Finnish developer Polarnode has already started construction, with capacity set to come online in phases beginning in 2027.
- The site will run on a multi-tenant model not tied to one client, alongside Nebius’ more than $40 billion in supply contracts with Microsoft and Meta.
- When complete, it would be Nebius’ largest site outside the United States and could draw power comparable to up to 500,000 Finnish homes while eventually covering about 10% of the company’s contracted capacity.
- The design features closed-loop liquid cooling with planned heat recovery for district heating, and the project is expected to create up to 700 construction jobs and about 100 permanent roles.
