NDMC Names Kaka Nagar Delhi’s First Fully Mechanised, Dust-Free Anupam Colony

NDMC frames the mechanised cleaning with on-site composting as a pilot for replication across other colonies.

Overview

  • Keshav Chandra announced that all sweeping in Kaka Nagar shifts from broom-based methods to machine-led operations to curb dust and improve air quality.
  • Sweeping is now conducted with five push-back mechanical sweepers and one gobbler machine deployed in the colony.
  • Twelve wire-mesh composting units process wet and horticultural waste, with compost used in parks and distributed to residents under the Geela Kuda Lao, Khaad Le Jao initiative running for about a week.
  • NDMC described the programme as a pilot whose results will determine expansion to additional colonies in its jurisdiction.
  • An RRR Centre and a Neki Ki Diwaar are operational to enable donations and recycling, with the RWA and sanitation workers credited for their support.
