NDMC Certifies Jor Bagh as ‘Anupam Colony,’ Not a Renaming

The tag recognizes verified zero-waste practices in residential colonies.

Overview

  • NDMC, which hosted a tree-planting drive Sunday under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, formally declared Jor Bagh an Anupam Colony.
  • Officials said the locality’s name remains Jor Bagh, as Vice Chair Kuljeet Singh Chahal clarified after online confusion, and Priyanka Chaturvedi later acknowledged she had misread the invite.
  • The certification requires 100% waste segregation at source, on-site composting of wet and horticultural waste, mechanised dust-free cleaning, and very little waste sent to landfills.
  • NDMC assessed that the Jor Bagh Residents’ Welfare Association had reached zero-waste status and granted the tag, which brings free compost for households and less waste hauling through the neighborhood.
  • Jor Bagh joins Satya Sadan Officers Flats, Bharti Nagar, Aradhana Colony, Bapu Dham Colony, New Moti Bagh and Kaka Nagar, signaling a model NDMC is rolling out across more areas.
