NCP Starts Contacting Owners of 400+ Vehicles After Addenbrooke's Car Park Fire

Car park one remains shut for the foreseeable future, with patients and staff redirected to alternative parking.

Overview

  • More than 30 firefighters from Cambridgeshire and neighboring services extinguished a multi-vehicle blaze on the second floor of Addenbrooke’s car park one with no reported injuries.
  • Police closed Robinson Way, Puddicombe Way, Adrian Way and Richard Howe Way during the operation and urged the public to avoid the area.
  • The hospital trust said 12 vehicles were involved in the fire, and crews stayed on scene overnight to dampen down and check for hotspots.
  • NCP, which operates the facility, is calling owners to schedule escorted collections for more than 400 vehicles still inside and asked people not to attend unless contacted.
  • A formal investigation into the cause will proceed when safe, and the hospital has prioritized car parks 2 and 6 for patients and visitors and advised use of Trumpington or Babraham Road park-and-ride.
