NCIS: New York Will Premiere Oct. 6 With LL Cool J Back as Sam Hanna

CBS is moving a long-running NCIS character into an on-location New York field office as part of a planned franchise expansion.

Overview

  • CBS unveiled a teaser trailer, first-look images and full casting and production credits on Tuesday, August 18, confirming that NCIS: New York will debut Tuesday, October 6 at 9 p.m.
  • LL Cool J returns as Sam Hanna and also serves as an executive producer on the series.
  • Scott Caan joins as Nick Schaeffer and the core New York field office cast includes Jennifer Beals, Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper and Devin Druid.
  • The premiere episode’s official logline says Sam returns to investigate the death of his friend and Navy reservist Jack Halloway, which provides the series’ initial investigative hook.
  • Produced by CBS Studios with Byron Balasco as showrunner, the series will film on location in New York City and is scheduled to air between NCIS at 8 p.m. and NCIS: Origins at 10 p.m., a move that tightens CBS’s Tuesday franchise block and shifts Sam’s character into a distinct New York setting.
