NCC Orders Recall of Select Nutricia Baby Formulas Over Toxin Risk

Officials cite a raw-ingredient cereulide concern pending source tracing.

Overview

  • The recall, announced March 9, covers 2,989 units of Nutricia’s 800g Aptamil Nutribiotik 2 and Aptajunior Nutribiotik 3 formulas.
  • Affected batches are Aptamil Nutribiotik 2 with batch numbers 20260911 (exp. 11 Sept 2026) and 20261209 (exp. 9 Dec 2026), and Aptajunior Nutribiotik 3 with batch number 20261209 (exp. 9 Dec 2026).
  • Nutricia reported that a raw material used in these batches may contain traces of cereulide, a toxin that at high exposure can cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.
  • The products were distributed nationally by United Pharmaceutical since August 2025, sold at Dis-Chem and Clicks, and some units were exported to Botswana and Namibia.
  • The NCC is monitoring compliance under the Consumer Protection Act, urging caregivers to verify batch numbers, stop using affected tins, and contact Nutricia for guidance and replacements.
