Overview
- A coordinated operation by NCB’s Chennai and Hyderabad units seized about 77–78 kg of hashish oil and 2 kg of charas valued near Rs 10 crore, officials said.
- The case began on March 3 when a car was intercepted near Raikal Toll Plaza in Telangana with charas concealed in cavities, leading to two arrests.
- Follow-up actions in Thoothukudi recovered the bulk consignment from three suspects, including a Sri Lankan refugee, and officers seized two cars and a motorbike.
- Information passed to the Indian Coast Guard led to the interception of a fishing boat near the International Maritime Boundary Line that was slated for a mid-sea handover to a Sri Lankan receiver.
- NCB says the consignment was sourced in Kathmandu, crossed into India via the Sonauli border, and was destined for Sri Lanka by sea, as investigators work to map financial and transnational links.
