NCB Dismantles ‘Team Kalki’ Darknet Drug Network After Two Arrests and Major Seizures

Investigators say the vendors used encrypted platforms with cryptocurrency payments to move European-sourced LSD and MDMA across India.

Overview

  • Anurag Thakur and Vikas Rathi were arrested in New Delhi after a months-long probe that targeted a darknet vendor account known as “Team Kalki.”
  • Officers seized 2,338 LSD blotters, 160 MDMA pills (about 77.5 g), roughly 73 g of charas, 3.64 g of amphetamine and 3.6 kg of liquid MDMA from 13 domestic parcels and two consignments from the Netherlands.
  • The network had been active since January 2025 and is suspected to have dispatched more than 1,000 consignments nationwide, according to the NCB.
  • Orders were taken via the Dread forum and the Session app, the vendor held a four-star rating, dead-drop pickups were used in parts of Delhi, and wider deliveries relied on India Post Speed Post and other couriers.
  • Payments flowed through unhosted crypto wallets using Monero and USDT with funds layered via intermediary and cold wallets; the probe continues to trace associates, finances and suppliers in the Netherlands, Poland and Germany, with the seized drugs valued around ₹5 crore.
