NCAA Deploys ProhiBet to Monitor Championship Officials’ Betting Ahead of March Madness

The NCAA calls the new screening a proactive safeguard following recent player-related betting cases.

Overview

  • Officials working this year’s Division I basketball, baseball and softball championships will be screened through Integrity Compliance 360’s ProhiBet system.
  • The NCAA will upload officials’ information to be anonymized and crosschecked against customer records at participating sportsbooks to flag prohibited betting.
  • More than 220 referees and alternates assigned to the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are included in the program.
  • This marks the first use of ProhiBet to monitor championship officials, with IC360 already partnered with multiple leagues and more than two dozen U.S. sportsbooks.
  • Officials are barred from wagering under NCAA rules, and the system adds a confidential compliance layer beyond existing background and eligibility checks.
