- The NBPA unveiled the PLYRS UNTD Performance Center in Playa Vista this week as a renovated, player-owned facility limited to NBPA members with on-site security and round-the-clock access.
- The 42,500-square-foot center includes two regulation NBA courts, a full weight and training room, turf space, recovery amenities such as sauna and massage rooms, family and conference areas, and an on-site kitchen.
- Players helped design the space and have begun using it in a soft opening, with Matteo Zuretti saying about 25 players planned a training session on Tuesday and NBPA executive director David Kelly reporting roughly 80 players used the site in its first week.
- The NBPA funded a sizable portion of the renovation with licensing revenue and is positioning the center as a flagship asset of PLYRS UNTD to generate partnerships and commercial opportunities for players.
- The new Los Angeles hub complements NBPA assets in New York and Spain, responds to an estimated 200 players spending part of the summer in L.A., and could concentrate offseason training, scrimmages, and union-driven business activity on the West Coast.
