Overview
- NBCUniversal announced July 30 that Christopher Halpin will become CFO on Sept. 8 and will oversee global finance and strategy for the company.
- Halpin joins from People Incorporated where he served as COO and CFO and earlier held senior roles at the NFL, Providence Equity and Goldman Sachs, giving him experience in M&A, investor relations and sports-media deals.
- He will report to Mike Cavanagh, the Comcast co-CEO who is identified as the future CEO of NBCUniversal as the company prepares to become a standalone public company.
- Current CFO Randy Culbertson will remain on NBCUniversal’s leadership team and will move into a new role that the company says it will announce in the coming weeks.
- The appointment is a step in Comcast’s plan to spin off NBCUniversal within about a year and signals a focus on building the finance, governance and investor-communications functions needed for an independent public company.
