NBCUniversal Merges UCP and Universal International Studios into Universal Global Television

Aimed to align U.S. and global slates under a single leader to boost international reach by cutting duplicate roles.

Overview

  • The company has combined Universal Content Productions and Universal International Studios into a new studio called Universal Global Television led by Beatrice Springborn.
  • Springborn’s senior leadership team will include executives drawn from both legacy units and partners such as Erin Underhill and Toby Gorman have roles on the executive slate.
  • The merger eliminates six positions directly and has affected 22 jobs across Universal Studio Group, NBC and Peacock as part of a wider realignment.
  • All existing UCP and UIS overall and first‑look deals will move to UGT and the unit will become parent to UK production arms including Carnival Films and Working Title Television while inheriting UIS’ co‑venture role in Heyday Television.
  • Several senior UCP executives including Jennifer Gwartz, Marc Velez and Steven O’Neill are departing and the reorganization follows earlier cost and structure reviews after NBCUniversal’s January cable spinoff.
