Navi Mumbai Crime Cases Rise in 2025 as Police Lift Detection Rate to 80%

Police credit focused, tech-driven investigations for the higher solve rate despite a staffing shortfall.

  • A total of 7,835 cognisable offences were registered in 2025, up 466 from 2024, with 6,276 cases detected.
  • Crimes against women saw 748 cases with a 99% detection rate, body offences also recorded 99% detection, property offences reached 2,331 with 57% detection, and economic offences rose to 913 with 66% detection.
  • Anti-drug operations seized about 215 kg of narcotics worth roughly ₹63 crore across 88 cases, leading to 1,156 arrests including seven foreign nationals, and dismantled a Thailand-linked 'hydro ganja' network with 25 arrests and kingpins extradited from Malaysia.
  • Cybercrime losses were reported at ₹136.43 crore with ₹25.60 crore blocked, while a new Cy-Fi unit, a 24/7 helpline, and CEIR use enabled the return of 2,550 mobile phones.
  • Traffic enforcement recorded 9.80 lakh cases under the Motor Vehicles Act in 2025, and fatal accidents declined to 267 from 286 the previous year.
