NATO, Latvia Conclude First Drone and Counter-Drone Field Tests at Sēlija Range
The effort accelerates operational uptake of new systems through NATO’s Rapid Adoption Action Plan.
Overview
- The inaugural Testing, Evaluation, Verification and Validation campaign ran March 9–13, 2026 at Latvia’s Sēlija Military Training Area.
- Defence industry teams from NATO Allies and Ukraine joined operational users and government representatives for live assessments.
- The range supports high-speed and high-altitude interceptor flights and provides an open environment for electronic warfare evaluations.
- Latvia’s Autonomous Systems Competence Centre organized the activities with support from the State Centre for Defence Logistics and Procurement.
- The site is one of five pilot Innovation Ranges under RAAP, and the next evaluation event is scheduled alongside the International Drone Summit in Riga on May 27.
