Overview
- The National Weather Service has confirmed multiple tornadoes from the late-night outbreak, including EF2 touchdowns near Drewersburg in Franklin County, Indiana, and on the southwest side of Maysville in Mason County, Kentucky.
- NWS teams have also verified tornadoes rated EF1 in Scott and Jefferson counties in Indiana and in Jackson County, and extended the Scott/Jefferson track into Trimble County, Kentucky, with at least one track later upgraded to EF2.
- Indiana Gov. Mike Braun issued a 30-day state disaster emergency covering 63 counties to mobilize state agencies, speed financial aid through the State Disaster Relief Fund, and coordinate mutual aid for recovery.
- The storms caused widespread structural and infrastructure damage—roofs torn off, homes and outbuildings destroyed, downed trees and power lines, flash flooding, road closures and thousands without power as crews work on restoration.
- NWS damage surveys and aerial assessments are continuing to refine tornado paths and final EF ratings, while local emergency teams, utilities and relief groups are running rescues, shelters and cleanup; residents should follow local safety guidance and apply for assistance if eligible.
