Nashik Kumbh 2027 Prep Advances With Rail-Crossing Surveys and 4,500-Bus Plan

Joint surveys now validate diversion plans to secure NOCs before the pilgrim influx.

Overview

  • NTKMA has begun joint on-ground surveys from January 23 to February 27 across 16 identified level crossings to finalise diversion routes and enable temporary closures during the Kumbh period.
  • The crossings have sanctioned grade-separation works targeting December 2026 completion, with contingency diversions planned where commissioning may not be feasible in time.
  • District, police, municipal, Public Works Department, Zilla Parishad and Central Railway teams are participating, with a coordination review set for February 28 to confirm decisions.
  • MSRTC plans about 4,500 buses linking external and internal parking hubs to Trimbakeshwar, with detailed deployment to be mapped at the corporation’s central office.
  • Bus-station upgrades have administrative approval with work orders due shortly, while supervisor deputations six months pre-event and exploration of AI-driven planning aim to strengthen operations.
