NASA Names Crew-13, Advances SpaceX ISS Launch to Mid-September

The earlier target reflects NASA’s push for tighter station crew handovers to keep research running without gaps.

Overview

  • NASA confirmed the Crew-13 mission will now target no earlier than mid-September for launch on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, moving up from a previously planned November window to maintain station staffing.
  • The four-person team features Jessica Watkins as commander, Luke Delaney as pilot, and mission specialists Joshua Kutryk of the Canadian Space Agency and Sergey Teteryatnikov of Roscosmos.
  • Once docked, the crew will join Expedition 75 for a months-long stay to conduct scientific studies and technology tests that support future missions beyond low Earth orbit.
  • Watkins will make her second spaceflight, while Delaney, Kutryk, and Teteryatnikov are set for their first trips to orbit, highlighting both experience and new flyers on an international team.
  • Crew-13 is slated to relieve Crew-12 after a brief overlap on the station, a planned handover that helps keep experiments running and station systems operating without interruption.
