Nahkauf Ends Printed Prospect and Publishes Weekly Offers Only in the Rewe App

Rewe says moving offers into its app will cut paper costs.

Overview

  • Nahkauf stopped distributing its printed weekly prospect on July 1 and now posts all weekly offers only on the Rewe app and at nahkauf.de.
  • The company says store assortments, prices and the number of promoted items will not change and that offers will still be marked on shelves in stores.
  • Nahkauf and Rewe cite rising paper, printing and delivery costs plus sustainability goals as the reasons for the switch and have rolled the stores into Rewe’s existing digital channels.
  • The Rewe app also provides services beyond offers, including digital receipts, shopping lists, loyalty functions and the Rewe Pay payment feature launched in spring 2026.
  • The change follows Rewe’s 2023 move away from printed leaflets while many competitors such as Aldi, Lidl and Kaufland continue to distribute paper prospects, raising concerns about access for customers who rely on printed leaflets in smaller towns and among less digital-savvy groups.
