Nagpur Police Form SIT to Probe Suspected Class 12 Paper Leak After Four Arrests

Investigators are tracing WhatsApp shares to pinpoint the leak’s origin.

Overview

  • Nagpur police have set up a Special Investigation Team to examine suspected leaks of the Maharashtra HSC Chemistry and Physics papers.
  • Four people are in custody, including coaching operator Mustafa Khan, private tutor Nishikant Moon, and Junaid Mohammad Abdul Javed, while a detained Class 12 student was released.
  • The issue surfaced on February 18 at St. Ursula High School in Nagpur when a supervisor found the Chemistry paper on a student’s phone before the exam.
  • Preliminary inquiries indicate the paper circulated via student WhatsApp groups, including one with an SFS College student, with screenshots seen shortly before the test.
  • The SIT is tasked with identifying the source, checking for possible involvement of board officials, mapping spread across districts, and probing a potential larger racket.
