Mysuru Police Intensify Area Domination Drive After Twin Crimes

A reactivated Anti-Rowdy Squad staged a fresh Oct. 12 sweep targeting traffic violations, petty offences, rowdy elements.

Overview

  • On Oct. 12, officers picked up 282 people for questioning, lodged 269 COTPA cases and 455 petty cases under the Karnataka Police Act, remanded one accused to judicial custody, and held a rowdy parade at Lashkar Police Station.
  • A special traffic drive on Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. booked 64 triple-riding cases and 120 for helmet, number-plate and wheeling violations, with 14 vehicles detained.
  • The initial two-day operation on Oct. 10–11 saw 612 detentions, 334 COTPA cases, over 700 Karnataka Police Act cases and 60 vehicle seizures, alongside IMV Act bookings including 75 for triple riding and 47 for other violations.
  • Anti-Rowdy Squads have been reactivated with inspector-led teams assigned to zones under all ACPs, supervised by DCP (Law and Order) R.N. Bindu Mani on the instructions of City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar.
  • Patrols and inspections span parks, bars, tea stalls, hotels, roadside shops, bus stands and parking areas across locations such as Doddakere Maidan, the Dasara Exhibition parking area, Jwalamukhi Parking Lot, RTO Circle, Kuvempunagar, Shanthinagar and Rajiv Nagar, with police urging confidential public tip-offs.
