Musician Nathan Smith Dies After Tractor Collision in Stoke-on-Trent

Staffordshire Police are investigating the collision and appealing for witnesses to support ongoing inquiries

  • The collision occurred on Wednesday 5 August on Shelton New Road in Cliffe Vale when a tractor struck a pedestrian who was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died.
  • Staffordshire Police say the victim was 45-year-old musician Nathan Smith and that his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
  • Emergency services including West Midlands Ambulance Service and Midlands Air Ambulance attended the scene and the tractor driver remained at the location to assist police with enquiries.
  • Smith ran the UTC recording studio in Longton and played bass in local groups including MFK and Big Cash Prizes, with MFK recently supporting The Wombats at Trentham Gardens.
  • Police have asked anyone with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to call 101 and quote incident 186 of 5 August as inquiries continue and the local music community issues tributes.
