Overview
- Granth Kutir opens with about 2,300 works across Tamil, Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia, Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese and Bengali.
- Approximately 50 manuscripts are conserved, many handwritten on palm leaf, paper, bark or cloth.
- Colonial-era British texts previously displayed at the site have been relocated within the estate, digitised and prepared for online research access.
- Select items will feature on guided tours, with researchers able to seek physical access and view digitised holdings through an online portal.
- The initiative draws support from the Education and Culture ministries with conservation expertise from IGNCA, following the 2024 expansion of India’s classical language list to 11.
