Murena Launches /e/OS 4.0 With One-Click Google Migration and New Gigaset Phones
Murena says the release is meant to let nontechnical users move their Google data to a privacy-first platform using automated tools.
Overview
- Murena announced /e/OS 4.0 and 4.1 on June 12, 2026, and says the update includes a one-click Gmail Migration Assistant that imports emails, contacts, calendars and Google Drive files.
- The migration assistant can also set up automatic forwarding to a Murena address, notify contacts of the switch, and scan an old account for subscriptions and linked services to simplify the move.
- The release adds Murena Backup, a cloud service that stores installed apps, app and system settings, accounts, media, emails and calendars to a Murena account for restore on new devices.
- Murena is rolling out Workspace collaboration and signing tools as part of the staged update, with Murena Meet and Murena Sign slated to debut next month for video calls, screen sharing, scheduling and e-signatures.
- To widen access, Murena partnered with Germany’s Gigaset to ship two phones, the GS6 and GS6 Pro, with mainstream specs like a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED, 8GB RAM and a removable 5,300mAh battery, and the staged rollout will determine how quickly users can complete a full switch from Google services.
